This page explains how we research, what we can and can’t tell you, and how we handle mistakes.
We research; we don’t test
We don’t buy or use the products we write about. Every comparison on Inneora is built from published information:
- Manufacturer information: official product pages, spec sheets, manuals, and warranty terms.
- Retailer information: shipping, returns, warranty, and privacy pages from the stores that sell the products.
- Standards and reference material: for example, how waterproof (IP) ratings are defined.
You won’t see phrases like “we tested” or “in our experience” on Inneora, because they wouldn’t be true.
Specs are what the manufacturer says
Numbers such as run time, noise level, or charging time are manufacturer-stated, not our own measurements. We label them that way. Where a number is missing or unclear, we say so instead of guessing.
Sources and dates
- We link to the source for specs and policies we cite.
- Each article shows the date we last checked its specs and policies. Stores change their terms, so please confirm details on the retailer’s site before you buy.
- We review published articles about every three months and update the “last checked” date when we do.
- We summarize store policies in our own words. We don’t copy them.
Notes from a friend of the editor
Occasionally an article includes a short note from a friend of the editor who owns a product and agreed to share their experience. When we do this:
- The note is clearly labeled “From a friend of the editor.”
- The friend bought and used the product themselves.
- We publish their words as given. We don’t rewrite them to sound more positive, and we include the negatives they mention.
- It’s one person’s experience, and we present it that way.
- If we gave the friend anything for their time, we say so next to the note.
- We don’t publish health or medical claims, even from a friend.
Customer reviews on store sites
If we mention customer ratings from a retailer, we give the number of reviews, the average, the date we checked, and a link. We don’t pick only the positive ones.
Affiliate links and independence
We earn money through affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure). Commission rates don’t decide what we recommend or how we rank things. We cover products and stores whether or not we have an affiliate relationship with them. We don’t accept payment for placement, and we don’t currently accept free products. If that ever changes, we will say so on the page concerned.
Health and safety
Inneora is not medical advice. We don’t claim that any product treats, cures, or improves a health condition. When we describe materials as body-safe, we’re reporting what the manufacturer or a published standard says, with a source. If you have a medical question, please ask a doctor or another qualified clinician.
No explicit content
We use product-only images and plain language. We don’t publish nudity or explicit material, and we don’t link to it.
Why we use a pen name
Inneora is written by Rowan Ellis, a pen name. Writing about intimate products under a real name can have personal and professional consequences that have nothing to do with the quality of the work. We don’t think you should have to trust a name. You should be able to check our work. That’s why we cite sources, date every check, and say plainly what we have and haven’t done.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, please tell us through our contact page. We fix confirmed errors as quickly as we can and update the article’s “last checked” date. When a correction changes a recommendation, we note the change in the article.
